October will see the band making a trip up to Bundaberg for a weekend to take workshops and perform a concert. Invited and hosted by our northern friends the Bundaberg Municipal Band, we are looking forward to heading up there and putting on a good show! With a few old Bundy Boys in the band, some great memories will be relived as well as some new ones made!

Come join the Cream of Australian musical talent in a fun filled public workshop. If you have ever wanted to toot on a tuba or play with a trombone, now is your chance to unleash your inner musical talent. For the more experienced players, time to get some Pro tips from the best. Planned to be fun and educational suitable for all ages 10+.

Success in Queensland Solo and Ensemble Competition!

Success in Queensland Solo and Ensemble Competition!

Our very own Gen Smith has been crowned the Queensland State Champion of Champions after the recent Queensland Solo and Ensemble Competiiton run by the Queensland Band Association. Gen took the title after winning the Open Flugel section and then being selected by the adjudicators Howard Taylor and Peter Younghusband as the best performer in the Champion of Champions event. Her performance of Pandora was a very fine one indeed, displaying fantastic technique, musical insight and a glorious tone. Only recently moving to the flugel chair from the solo cornet lineup, this was her first performance on flugel, and a very successful one!

Gen took the Championship title over eight other finalists, including our soprano cornet Jaime Brown, who had previously won the Open Soprano section. Jaime played a lovely performance of the test piece The Carousel, with her trademark clear beautiful sound and very lyrical playing. It was a pleasure to hear both play on the day!

Congratulations also to Lindon Weise, who placed second to Jaime in the Open Soprano section.
