Big, Bold and Brassy

Brisbane Excelsior Band and Windsor Brass both played in the "Big, Bold and Brassy" concert as part of the Queensland Music Festival on the 26th of July at the Suncorp Piazza South Bank.

Drawing some of the largest crowds of the day, the two bands took a break from their usual brass band repertoire to perform a selection of big band and swing pieces.

Windsor Brass' set featured percussionists Michael Johannessen and CJ Nash and included crowd favourites such as "Sing Sing Sing", "Shout" and "Caravan". Brisbane Excelsior followed Windsor, with a thoughtful yet thoroughly entertaining performance of classical and contemporary swing music.

Both bands look forward to performing again for the Brisbane public as part of the Brisbane City Council's Bands in Parks program.
