The Death of XLCR stalwart

Brisbane Excelsior Band sadly note the passing of Casey Schryver, long time band stalwart and one of our association’s most memorable members.

A gifted player of Baritone, Euphonium and particularly EEb bass, “KC” was a life member, vice President, player and motivator, being the major force behind Excelsior’s move to contest Nationally and to acquire the conducting services of Howard Taylor.

Together with his good mate Colin Topp, Casey also enjoyed great success with ‘Topp Brass’ – the popular, XLCR-based septet.

In ill-health for some time, Casey lost his beloved wife Pamela in 2008 and leaves children Mareika and Peter and their families and a wonderful legacy of joyous music making.

His influence on Excelsior will be long and fruitful and we take this opportunity to express our sympathies.

Casey Schryver - Pilot, Sailor, Family man and Musician will be farewelled and remembered at:
St Margaret’s Anglican Church, 58 Rainbow St, Sandgate at 1pm on Monday April 12th.
